BIGBANK Gold League: the finals of the summer session

On August 3, at the Rakvere stadium in Estonia, the final stage of BIGBANK Gold League summer session took place. Athletes from Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia as well as other countries participated in over 20 competitions.

Lithuanians took part in triple jump, javelin throwing, long jump, 400-meter run and disc throwing sessions. The best results among Lithuanian sportsmen were achieved by Indrė Jakubaitytė, who in women‘s javelin throwing reached 53,66 meters and won the second place. Men were not that successful - Nerijus Lučkauskas (62,09 m) remained the eigth, while Vaidas Miščikas (61,07 m) was the nineth among the others.

Meanwhile, in men’s 400-meter run, Raimondas Turla, with his 49,92 s result, took the third place, and in men‘s triple jump competition Mantas Dilys (15,83 m) was the fourth one. The same place was won by Lina Andrijauskaitė, who in the long jump achieved 6.30 m result, while in the disc throwing field Andrius Gudžius (59,29 m) remained the fifth.

This year, since the disqualification term for the use of prohibited drugs ended, BIGBANK Gold League championship was also attended by olympic champion Justin Gatlin. This was his first competition after a four-year break. The US sportsman was unbeatable in the 100-meter run and showed the result of 10,42 seconds.
